The history of Himachal Pradesh go back to the earliest dawn of human civilization. There is a little doubt that to million years ago, at one form of man lived in himachal foothills , the region known as the Sirsa-Sutlej valleys of Nalagarh-Bilaspur , Bangana-Beas valleys of Kangra and The Markanda valley at Sirmaur. Ancient human existence here is testified by the availability of large stone tools, choppers, like pebbles hand axes and gravels in the shiwalik foothills at Guler, Dehra, Dhaliara and Kangra in the Beas valley  and the Sirsa-Sutlej valleys of Nalagarh-Bilaspur.
The available river water, natural vegetation and animal life created a suitable habitat for early human settlements in these region.
The prehistory of Himachal Pradesh is the migration of peoples from the Indian pains and from the central Asia, which have been a womb of nation. who inhabited these regions before the coming of these races from the Indian pains in the south is not known. but Kols also known as Mundas were perhaps the earliest and the original migrants to the Himachal Hills.
